Rebecca School is a developmental program that utilizes the DIRFloortime method, a relationship-based model of teaching instruction developed by Dr.
Stanley Greenspan.
Rebecca School is opening a new location in Mount Vernon, NY for the 2024 school year and is seeking a Physical Therapist to work with students age 3 to 21 with neurodevelopmental delays in relating, communicating and thinking.
As a Physical Therapist, you will play an integral role in the success of our students, developing treatment plans and goals to improve functional abilities and enhance their ability to learn.
Rebecca School North is an expansion of the Rebecca School in NYC after 18 successful years of serving students with neurodevelopment delays in relating and communicating.
Pay Range is $65,000 to $80,000 depending on degree and experience (based on a 12-month position).
RESPONSIBILITIES WHAT YOU'LL BE DOINGDeliver physical therapy services to students with special needsAdminister pediatric physical therapy assessments to determine a student's level of function in such areas as fine/gross motor skill development, sensory motor integration, self-care and activities of daily livingPrepare written assessment and reports identifying the student's needs and proposed treatment strategies, goals and objectives; maintain progress recordsProvide students with individual treatment and group therapy sessions to correct specific areas of sensory motor integrative dysfunction and social/emotional issuesEducate team members on facilitation of implemented techniques or modalities (brushing, deep pressure, vibration, oral motor, feeding, HWT, etc.
)Monitor therapy and educational staff trained to incorporate appropriate physical therapy treatment strategies into instruction; evaluate effectiveness of the established program and make modifications within the PT framework of the DIR modelCollaborate and coordinate physical therapy goals with instruction; communicate with parents or guardians through conferences and other means to discuss student progressMaintain professional competence by attending staff development programs and continuing education programsParticipate in weekly Greenspan meetings, team meetings and staff trainingQUALIFICATIONS WHAT YOU BRINGMaster's DegreeLicense to practice Physical Therapy in NYSState Certification Knowledge of DIRFloortime is preferred, but not requiredEffective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to establish and maintain professional working relationships with students, staff and parentsBENEFITS WHAT WE OFFEREligible Rebecca School Employees will receive competitive pay and benefits including:
