Director of Programming Job Purpose:
The YouthCRED Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation of the YouthCRED initiative.
The YouthCRED initiative's goal is to cure violence, reduce shootings, and promote youth as rational factors and sound leaders who can create the change needed to better our communities as it relates to gun violence and promote a no-shooting message.
Coupled with messaging, youth will be aligned with services and resources that they typically may not seek or know how to obtain.
YouthCRED also seeks to help the community become more active in solutions to overcoming violence in the community by fostering a space for community collaboration amongst individuals, key stakeholders, and leaders.
YouthCRED seeks to leverage the raw talents, experiences, and misguided leadership that justice involved youth inherently possess and pair it with curriculum to create model youth leaders who can work in tangent with the community to become youth credible messengers and outreach workers.
Through this initiative these youth credible messengers will create meaningful outreach campaigns to target hotspots and high-risk youth who are known shooters or at risk to shoot within the City of Yonkers and City of Mount Vernon.
Duties & Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
Work to intervene in circumstances where gun violence is likely, including possible retaliation Identify youth who are high risk for being involved in violent activities and support them with engaging in the YouthCRED Credible Messenger Program Host youth focused conversations to learn about the causes of shootings/killings in order to assist in mediating situations and preventing retaliation between individuals and groups (e.
g.
, working with the community, outreach programs to gain information that may be helpful to support fruitful engagement activities) Form relationships with the highest risk people in the community, as well as the people who know them Conduct outreach to the community (individually and as a team member) to build strong relationships with youth, residents, businesses and community groups Talk to youth and community partners, make inroads and develop relationships Learn and understand awareness of the community and its surroundings Work with community partners to identify hot spots for shootings and violence to galvanize recruitment and engagement of high-risk youth in these identified areas Report to Administration keep all informed of all relevant community activities Document all contacts with high-risk individuals Document shootings and other acts of violence that are prevented Respond to shootings in other communities when necessary Distribute YouthCRED education materials to targeted audience Distribute information about community events and important resources Attend all program trainings Attend and help facilitate community events
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent experience with an additional 4-5 years of relevant program coordination experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication and computer skills required.
Seeking an extremely outgoing, personable, and professional individual who can think creatively and critically about their approach to helping people overcome barriers to reentry and community engagement.
Also seeking a detail oriented, self-starter who takes initiative and can get things done in a high-paced environment, and who understands the challenges and has the ability to support the needs of individuals impacted by the justice system.
Knowledge in reentry, justice system, community support services, and/or restorative justice preferred.
Additional preferred qualifications include:
Experience supervising and supporting youth credible messengers; Knowledge and/or lived experience related to the criminal justice system and its impact on communities; Strong knowledge of positive youth development About the Youth Shelter Program of Westchester (YSOW) Since 1975, YSOW has provided an alternative to incarceration for young women and men ages 16 to 21 and now young men ages 18-24.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
